Terms of Service
Version 1.0 · updated 21 September 2026
Draft pending legal review. This document describes how AVYRA actually works and is published so the product is not shipped with an empty policy. It has not been reviewed by an advocate. Replace it through Admin → Content before public launch.
Who we are
AVYRA is a dating service for verified university students in Kenya. In these terms, "AVYRA", "we" and "us" mean the operator of the AVYRA service; "you" means the person using it.
Who may use AVYRA
You must be 18 or over. There is no exception to this and no waiting period — an account we believe belongs to someone under 18 is removed, not suspended.
You must be a genuine individual using your own identity. One person, one account. You may not create an account on behalf of somebody else, and you may not sell, rent or transfer your account.
Verification is a condition of being seen, not a badge. Before your profile is shown to anyone you must verify either a university email address or, where your institution has no verifiable domain, a selfie reviewed by a person on our team.
What we expect from you
You are responsible for what you put on AVYRA — your photos, your prompt answers, your messages. Do not post anything you do not have the right to share, anything that identifies another person without their agreement, or anything that breaks Kenyan law.
The Community Guidelines form part of these terms. Harassment, solicitation, scams, commercial promotion and misrepresenting who you are all lead to enforcement, up to and including a permanent ban.
Paid features
Verified students get the core product free. Paid tiers add optional features and are described on the pricing page at the point of purchase.
Payments are processed through M-Pesa by our payment provider. We do not see or store your M-Pesa PIN. A subscription renews until you cancel it; cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves you with what you have already paid for until the period ends.
Refunds follow the consumer protections you have under Kenyan law. Where a charge was made in error, tell us and we will correct it.
Moderation and enforcement
Reports are reviewed by people, against the Community Guidelines. Depending on what we find we may warn you, limit your account, suspend it, or remove it.
Where we act against your account we will tell you what rule was broken, unless telling you would put someone at risk or we are prevented by law. You may appeal — how to do that is in the message we send you.
We may remove content or an account without prior notice where there is a risk to someone's safety.
Your content
You keep ownership of everything you post. You give us the permission we need to operate the service — to store your content, show it to the people your settings say it should be shown to, and process it for safety and moderation. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we are required to keep a record.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion is real: see the Privacy Policy for what is removed, what is retained, and for how long.
We may end your access if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we stop operating the service.
Things we cannot promise
AVYRA introduces people. We verify that members are students and that a real person is behind an account, and we moderate what is reported to us. We cannot guarantee anybody's conduct, and meeting someone through AVYRA carries the same risks as meeting them anywhere else. The safety page is worth reading before a first date.
We provide the service as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or free of faults, though we work to keep it available.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes
We will tell you before these terms change in a way that materially affects you, and you will be asked to accept the new version. The version and date at the top of this page identify the terms you agreed to.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction over any dispute.
