About AVYRA
AVYRA exists because the dating apps Kenyan students actually use were not built for them.
They were built for cities with different transport, different safety assumptions and different money. They are full of accounts nobody has checked. And they treat "is this person real?" as a premium feature rather than the baseline.
What we do differently
Everyone is verified. Not "verified" as an optional badge you can buy — checked, before you can be seen. A university email or a reviewed selfie. That single decision changes what the rest of the product has to be.
Students do not pay. The people we most want on AVYRA have the least money, and a product that prices them out is a product that has no one on it. Verified students get the core app free. That is the business model, not a promotion.
Safety is designed in. Share My Date, human moderation with real deadlines, blocking that actually works, and location that is never precise. These were in the first version, not added after something went wrong.
Built for Kenyan networks. Payments through M-Pesa. Pages that load on a slow connection. A version that works when your data runs out mid-conversation. English and Kiswahili from day one.
Where we are
AVYRA is launching campus by campus rather than country-wide, because a dating app with ten people on it is not a dating app. Each university opens when there are enough verified students there for it to be worth opening.
If yours is not live yet, tell us — that is genuinely how we decide what comes next.
